End-to-End Testing

Validata SAS provides a full end-to-end (e2e) testing capability to ensure the quality of products you put out to market is of a high standard.  The testing techniques and methodology are all embedded within the tool. Our solution makes the entire testing lifecycle continuous from automatically understanding the application(s) data model to automatically creating and running the test cases, and reporting back all test runs.

Unlike traditional test automation tools, Validata takes an entirely different approach and focuses on the analytical aspects (the context and the content), thus providing root cause analysis linking requirements and testing.

The main testing elements within Validata SAS can be grouped as follows:

Core Testing

Functional and Regression Testing:

For Functional and Regression Testing activities, Validata SAS enables clients to:

• Execute tests at the applications’ database and through the user interface with both automated or manual options provided
• Verify that a change in one component of the system is not preventing the rest of the system from functioning properly
• Import existing test cases and test data / expected results from third party systems, enabling the ability to leverage existing test assets and quickly set up your test pack.  It also provides the ability to enforce Data Privacy through masking or similar techniques
• Easily re-use functional test cases in performance and regression testing, by quickly manipulating or changing the data attributed to the test case
• Easily develop both positive and negative testing capabilities by associating the appropriate data to each test case, through our test driven approach
• Support multiple testing environments along with parallel execution of test cases by simply nominating the test environment to execute against when you build your test case
• Create automated regression testing on demand

Performance Testing:

Within Validata SAS, we extend the functional tests, to ensure the processes can handle large volumes, especially when implementing new products.  It is also capable of measuring end-user response times for performance data and metrics.

Defect Management:

Locating and fixing defects is an essential phase in application development. Within Validata SAS, the detected defects are logged and accessed by developers and testers across all stages of the testing process. Validata SAS provides the association between a defect and test step, which ultimately links the defect with the software requirement letting you know the impact of the particular defect over your application/system/project. Validata SAS provides full control in detecting and tracking issues until they are fixed, re-tested and closed.  Also there is the ability to customise the fields based on the project needs and information required, and set the appropriate access level.

Risk-Based Testing:

At the planning stage, we can associate risks with the requirements and. consequently; requirements are automatically associated with Test cases. As a result the solution aligns the Risks and the Test Cases and the Test Cycle, covers the risk (i.e. risk-based approach).

Validata SAS can also prioritise the features and functions that have to be tested based on priority/importance and probability or impact of failure.

Non-Core Testing

Database Testing:

Validata SAS can perform the following database testing:

• Data Validity testing
• Data Integrity testing
• Performance related data base testing
• Testing of procedures, reports and functions

Boundary Value Analysis:

Boundary value analysis can be integrated when designing the test cases. Validata SAS will exercise these boundaries and uncover faults in the software during the testing process.

Also Validata SAS will define tolerances for each value of the application under test and check whether the returned value falls within this range (boundaries).

Providing pre-defined Automated Scripts to generate data sets:

A set of pre-defined scripts for making the next test case inherit the data from the previous one, where dataset would be automatically populated based on these scripts.
