Test Data Management

Overview

Validata Group offers an end-to-end test data management solution which is flexible, fast and easy to use enabling truly thorough testing. Test Data Manager not only creates or generates ‘synthetic’ data from scratch, it can also create subset databases, de-identify (mask or obfuscate) your existing data and bulk up data for performance testing.

It is no secret that most IT organizations make direct copies of their production systems for non-production. This inefficient and usually expensive process lacks focus and increases test cycles immeasurably. As production databases slowly grow, the longer it will take to make a complete system copy. As a result, the test team struggles, the organization comes across compliance challenges, the hardware costs rise and the overall quality of the testing (and test data) remains poor.

The painful truth is that too many test managers think that by using the HP/Mercury QTP solution they are using correct and valuable test data. However, it seems that they are only making an ineffective process just a little more efficient.

Advantages and Benefits:

Reduce test cycles by a third
Reduce the cost and effort to create and maintain data
Increased reusability by 40%
High-quality test data fully integrated with testing and requirements
Central test data repository enables easy data management and inheritance
Data-driven methodology
Reduced hardware cost

Product capabilities:

Data Masking

  1. Obscure or de-identify specific data within a database table or flat file to ensure that data security is maintained and sensitive customer information is not leaked

Centralized test data repository

  1. Use a test data repository to manage all of your data assets, enabling you to enhance, edit and manipulate test data in one central location

Data creation

  1. Create high-quality test data with all of the characteristics and relationships of production data for data-driven testing

Data Archiving

  1. Rapidly expanding quantities of data can have a huge impact on the quality of your service and the cost of your IT infrastructure. Test Data Manager enables you to achieve the best possible performance from your databases by archiving information to your chosen criteria — without losing access to your data.

Full audit trail and version control

  1. A full set of audit trail and version control features is available. Routines and data records are stored in a centralized database that keeps track of all updates, supports multiple check-out and parallel development and has a full set of release management features.
Supports data from flat files and object-oriented databases or any other source

Data Quality

  1. Validata helps develop data quality and business rules that are applied to the data and therefore ensure accurate data and business integrity

Data Profiling

  1. Data Profiling is used to identify data quality errors, uncover relationships that exist between different data elements, discover sensitive data that may need to be masked and monitor data quality on an ongoing basis to support data governance. A more accurate estimation of the project duration and cost can be achieved through data profiling.

Data Governance

  1. A strategic approach to governance by discovering all data quality issues and ensuring all stakeholders across the organization can take part in governing data over its life time.
